Before You Print
- Check the label sheet size, such as Letter, A4, 4 x 6, or a specific label template.
- Use the PDF or document supplied by your shipping service or label maker when possible.
- Load label paper in the printer tray in the direction shown on the printer or paper package.
- Print one test page on plain paper before using adhesive labels.
Best Print Settings for Labels
Use 100% scale or Actual size for most labels. Avoid Fit to page unless the label file was created larger than the sheet. Even a small scaling change can move text, barcodes, or addresses outside the label boundary.
- Scale: 100%, Actual size, or None.
- Margins: Default or None, depending on the label template.
- Paper size: Match the physical label sheet.
- Quality: Normal or Best for sharp barcodes and small text.
Shipping Labels
For 4 x 6 shipping labels, choose a 4 x 6 paper size if your printer supports it. If you print a 4 x 6 label on Letter or A4 paper, keep scale at 100% and cut around the label after printing.

Fix Alignment Problems
- Text starts too low: Check paper size and turn off headers, footers, or browser page margins.
- Labels drift across the page: Make sure scaling is 100% and the correct sheet template was used.
- Barcodes look blurry: Print in normal or high quality and avoid enlarging a small image.
- Only part of the label prints: Confirm the label size matches the printer tray and document size.
