Letter vs. Legal
US Letter paper is 8.5 x 11 inches. US Legal paper is 8.5 x 14 inches. A legal-size PDF printed on Letter paper may lose content at the bottom unless you shrink it or use the correct paper.
Print on Legal Paper
- Load legal-size paper into a tray that supports the longer sheet.
- Open the file or Print-File.com preview.
- Open the print dialog and choose Legal as the paper size.
- Use Actual size or 100% scale if the document is already legal size.
- Preview all pages before printing.
Print a Legal Document on Letter Paper
If you only have Letter paper, choose Fit to page or Shrink to printable area. The document will be smaller, but the full page should fit. This is useful for reading copies, but official forms may require the original paper size.

Common Issues
- Bottom text is missing: The printer is likely using Letter paper. Select Legal or Fit to page.
- Printer asks for paper: Load Legal paper or choose the tray that contains it.
- Everything looks too small: A legal page may have been scaled down to Letter. Use Legal paper and 100% scale.
- Pages rotate unexpectedly: Check orientation and paper size together in the preview.
