Orientation: Portrait vs. Landscape
Portrait is taller than wide (normal documents). Landscape is wider than tall (spreadsheets, wide images). Choose based on your content. A wide PDF or panoramic photo usually needs landscape.
Scaling and Fit to Page
Scaling controls how large the content appears on the printed page:
- Default / 100%: Prints at actual size. Content may be cropped if it exceeds the page.
- Fit to page / Shrink to fit: Scales content so it all fits within the printable area. Good for avoiding cut-off.
- Custom scale: Enter a percentage (e.g. 90%) to slightly reduce or enlarge the output.
Paper Size
Select Letter (US), A4 (international), Legal, or other sizes to match your paper. Mismatched settings can cause scaling or layout issues.
Color vs. Black & White
Use Color for photos and documents with important color. Use Black and white (or Grayscale) for drafts and text-heavy documents to save ink.
Quality / DPI
Higher quality (e.g. "Best" or 600 DPI) gives sharper output but uses more ink and takes longer. Use "Draft" or "Fast" for quick checks.
Background Graphics
Enable "Background graphics" or "Print backgrounds" if your document has colored backgrounds or watermarks. Otherwise they may not print.
