Chrome, Edge, and Firefox
- Open the file, page, or Print-File.com preview you want to save.
- Press Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on macOS.
- Choose Save as PDF, Microsoft Print to PDF, or another PDF destination.
- Check paper size, orientation, margins, and scale.
- Click Save and choose where the PDF should go.
Safari on macOS
Open the print dialog with Command+P, then use the PDF menu at the bottom of the dialog. Choose Save as PDF, name the file, and pick a folder. Safari's PDF option is especially handy when you want to create a clean copy before printing later.
iPhone and iPad
Use the share button and choose Print. In the print preview, expand the preview with a pinch-out gesture, then share or save the generated PDF to Files. Some apps also show Save to Files directly from the share sheet.
Android
Open the print option from the app or browser menu, then select Save as PDF from the printer list. Choose paper size and orientation, tap the PDF button, and save the file to Downloads, Drive, or another folder.
When to Print to PDF First
- You need to email a document exactly as it will print.
- You want to keep a receipt, ticket, form, or confirmation page.
- You are troubleshooting layout before using paper and ink.
- You need a stable file before printing from another device.
Quality Tips
Use the same paper size you expect to print on later. If the PDF is too small or has extra blank pages, adjust scale, margins, and background graphics before saving again.
